Πλησιάζοντας στα σπίτια κάτω, ακούσαμε απο μακριά κάποιον να γελαει δυνατά. Διαπεραστικό γέλιο σαν απο παράφρονα. Αργότερα μάθαμε ότι ο εν λόγω κύριος μόλις είχε επιστρέψει απο κηδεία. Είχε θάψει το παιδί του. Καθήμενος σε ένα πεζούλι, ένας γέρος, κουρασμένος, όταν τον ρώτησα περί αυτού με λίγο ειρωνική διάθεση, με έβαλε στη θέση μου με τρόπο που δεν μπορούσα παρα να σκύψω το κεφάλι και αισθανθώ ντροπή. «το πιο δυνατο γέλιο αγόρι μου κρύβει την πιο μεγάλη και πιο βαθιά θλίψη, μην τα ξεχωρίσεις, μην μπερδευτείς»

• “I remember a dream I always had as a child” he said. “I was riding my bright red bike heading towards my favourite park, with the high fountains, right at the edge of my school - I remember I was always so excited to reach there. • Although I had a feeling that I knew where I was going, as if I was instinctively gravitating towards that brick layered path, in my dream, suddenly, I was finding myself in a courtyard full of different doors” he said, and she could see his eyes rapidly running around his eye cavities like crazy towards every possible direction of the compass. • “ I was always scared that I have to open one of them at some point and I didn’t want to make the wrong decision,I didn’t want to be disappointed, you know...I hope ... I hope you’re following me so far” he said• “ I do, I do. And? ” she said • “ Where was I? Oh yes, as I was in front of all these doors, all I could think of was how much I want to get to the fountains and what if the fountains were behind one of these doors.” • “So? Where they? Was there anything behind the doors? Did you find the fountains?” she asked with her eyes glittering, hoping for a happy ending.• “No, I never had the courage to open them. The fear of making the wrong decision, left me making no decision and I continued brewing on my devastation of never getting to see my fountains.” He said and leaned his head on her shoulder, like a child that lost his favourite toy.• —- She wanted to find something southing, something comforting to say to take his regrets away, instead she rapidly glanced his closed eyes, just enough so she could stay still and not disturb him and thought to herself...
